Bonjour! This will be my first post about French language, im kinda new but lets get started 🔸
Quand on utilise "etre" and "avoir"?
This two verbs can be very confusing for a beginner ( Just a sincere reminder, basically everything is complicated in French ) huhu..
If you try to translate French to English, you will be doomed in a state of confusion. J'ai ( optional ) and Je suis bring the same meaning " I am.."
First, i will show how to conjugate these verbs for different subjects
*Trust me, this is just a beginning*
Etre = To be and Avoir = To have
J'ai dix huit ans? I have 18 years old? C'est ridicule! That's why i told you "never translate french to english" because it will make you become confused. Alors, je veux donner quelqu'un example ( I want to give you some example ) ;
Avoir
- J'ai un livre - I have a book
- Tu as une copine - You have a girlfriend?
- Il a beacoup d'argents - He has a lot of money
- Elle a un chien - She has a dog
- Vous avez une voiture orange - you have an orange car
- Nous avons un ananas - we have a pineapple
Etre
- Je suis malaisien - I am malaysian
- Tu es fatiguee? - You are tired?
- Il est beau - He is handsome
- Elle est belle - He is beautiful
- Ils sont professeurs - They are teachers
- Vous etes etudiant? - You are a student?
These two verbs are basic verbs in french because they re really important after this ( passe compose ) which will be lot more interesting.
So remember ;
"Never Translate French Into English" - Monsieur Fabrice
I hope this post can help you to improve your French. Merci beaucoup
