NOUN AND THEIR GENDER

Like human beings, French nouns have their own gender. Why do we have feminine and masculine in french? Human equality? Man power? This is my lecturers' answer.

"French linguistic system doesn't care about human equality and man power? Think it back it later after you re married."

So, he just asked us to accept the fact that french was meant to be hard and difficult.
"Is there any tip to know whether the noun is muscular or feminine"
YES ! Usually the feminine noun ending with -e but after i learnt french for about 2 years, this rule doesn't make sense anymore.
So, the easiest way is to memorise all nouns in french, because practice make perfect ya know 😂😂😂😂

How to identify the genders of the noun?

Luckily we have articles ( un, une et des ) to help us to know their gender.

REMEMBER
We use un for masculine nouns

un livre - a book
un musee - a museum
un theatre - a theatre

Puis (Then), we use une for feminine nouns

une cabane - a house tree
une table     - a table
une fraise    - a strawberry

Why do i choose the noun ending with -e? Because i want to prove that there is no easy way to identify the gender of the noun . HAHAHA

Enfin. we use des for plural noun, oh yeah both gender is possible ( c'est possible ) and the terminaison will be -s But, the noun will be different if the noun end with -eau

For plural noun, we add -s and -aux ( optional )
un livre         - a book
des livres     - books

une fraise      - a strawberry
des fraises    - strawberries

un tableau     - a painting
une tableaux - paintings

un,une and des are for indefinite nouns only .Trust me, these things will be easy if you re practicing them a lot, please dont give up on French . A quote to be noted ;
